The “Premiere Golf Event of Anson County” again, was a huge success. Held on April 20th, 39 teams enjoyed a perfect day for golfing with great weather, tasty food, terrific prizes and lots of fun. We appreciate the lunch sponsor this year who was Republican Candidate for NC House 55, Richard Johnson. With 151 players choosing their tee time of 8:00am or 1:00pm it was sure to be a busy but great day for a golf tournament. There was a cool breeze for the morning hours and that blossomed into a nice warm afternoon.
This “Premiere” Golf Event of Anson County would not be as successful without the support of our sponsors, volunteers and especially the golfers. Deepest thanks to our Presenting sponsors for this year, Anson Community Hospital and CMC-Union. Special thanks also to Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Cheerwine, Perdue, Refreshment Services Inc., R. A. Jeffreys, Carolina Premium Beverage and IGA Wadesboro. There are many others to thank for their contributions to this event as well, with door prizes, goodie bag items, team and hole sign sponsorships. A special thank you to Mitch Moretz who was invited to come and assist with the tournament and the staff at Twin Valley Country Club for their support also. “I certainly have to give my warmest thank you to our Golf Committee, Jilla Gathings, Jeff Rodgers, Todd Moore, Terri Martin, Tommy Allen, Bobby Talton, Freddie Vega and Coco Wells. Without these wonderful volunteers this event would not be as successful and I appreciate each one of them,” Edwards stated. Big thanks to the, 2012 Leadership Anson Class, for helping out in varies area at the tournament.
Winners; First place winners of the tournament were, Hornwood Inc. team followed by Wadesboro Tire & Auto in at second and Daniel Tolley’s team coming in third. The winner of the Split-the-Pot was John Brock and the winner of the 2nd Annual Ball Drop was Securus team. Congratulations to all of you!
 For the first time in many years, we had a Hole-in-One winner. On hole #7, Richard McCall of the NC Electric Membership Cooperation team made a lucky shot that won him a three day Bahamas trip for two. This hole, along with three others, was sponsored by Judge Lisa Thacker. Everyone was really excited to have a winner such as this for the first time in many years. He also received a golf ball donated by R.A. Jeffreys. Congratulations to Mr. McCall.
